Join me for the 2016 AV Challenge! Each week for the next four weeks, I’ll be posting a research-based tip that parents and caregivers can use to help their children with hearing loss develop listening and spoken language skills.
Q: How do I participate?
A: Follow Auditory Verbal Therapy on this blog, the Facebook page, Twitter, or Pinterest. Each week, I’ll post a new tip. LIKE and SHARE the graphic to spread the word. TRY the tip at home with your child(ren). COMMENT to share your successes and challenges and to join your fellow 2016 challenge participants.
Q: Do I have to live in the US?
A: Absolutely not. The program is 100% online and open to families of children with hearing loss around the world.
Q: What does it cost?
A: Absolutely nothing! This challenge is FREE!
Q: Do I have to participate in the whole thing? What is the time commitment?
A: The 2016 Challenge is completely self-paced. You can try the tips at home each week for four weeks, or participate in just one or two weeks if those tips appeal to you. You’re in control and it’s up to you!
Q: What age group(s) can benefit from these tips?
A: The 2016 AV Challenge will consist of tips for parents of very young children who are deaf or hard of hearing, approximately birth – age five. Don’t worry – future challenges may include other age groups or interests (e.g. children with additional disabilities, bilingual oral language learners, etc.)
Q: Are hearing health professionals invited?
A: Of course, the more the merrier. Please LIKE and SHARE the graphics with the families you serve to spread awareness.
This information is being shared as part of a class project at Teachers College, Columbia University. All opinions and views expressed are my own.
